Day 1: Arrival-Volcanoes national Park

kwitonda-silver-backPick up from the airport on arrival, have lunch in Kigali, get on the road to Volcanoes national park for 3 hours.  Virunga National Park is in the magnificent Virunga Mountains, located in the Northern Province of Rwanda, on the border of Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. The Virunga Mountains consist of six Volcanoes which include Karisimbi, Bisoke and Mikeno Volcanoes, and are home to the famous gorilla families and various other animals. The vegetation in the park is mainly Bamboo and rainforest. Apart from Mountain Gorillas, other animals like golden monkeys, chimpanzees live in this place too. Do not miss out on Dianne Fossey visit if you have enough time. Dianne Fossey is the researcher who dedicated her life to the Gorillas. Relax the rest of the afternoon or do a community walk

Day 2: Gorilla tracking

Arise early in the morning, have breakfast and drive to the park headquarters. Get briefed and begin the tracking. Gorilla tracking takes 2-8 hours depending on the movements.   A maximum time of 1 hour is allowed to do photography and admire the gorillas. Return to the base, lunch, dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 3: Dian Fossey Grave & Research Center

Breakfast, go and visit Dian Fossey grave and research centre. Later have lunch. In the afternoon you will visit the twin Lakes Burera and Ruhondo, close to the gorilla-tracking center of Musanze. These two lakes are termed as the twin lakes. The local people do traditional fishing on these lakes, you can also get on a traditional boat or canoe to visit the island on these lakes. Scenery is good and it is an excellent spot for bird watching. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay

After breakfast, transfer to Akagera National Park. Akagera National Park borders with Tanzania and is dominated to the east by the maze of swamps and lakes that follow the meandering course of the Akagera River. The vegetation is mainly acacia woodland interspersed with open grassland, high rolling hills along the western boundary and patches of thick forest. It is a home to large herds of buffalo, giraffe, zebra, elephants, dozens of antelopes, most commonly the handsome impala, but also oribi and bushbuck, as well as the topi. Leopard and hyena might be seen on a night drive. For hippos and crocodiles can be spot while on a boat trip on Lake Ihema. It is a home to about 525 species of birds. On arrival you will do a game drive. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 5: Akagera National Park

Early morning game drive, have lunch and in the evening go for a boat ride. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.

 Day 6: Kigali-Departure

Breakfast, drive back to Kigali for your departure flight.
