Day 1: Kigali city tour and drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Fly to Kigali International Airport where you will meet your safari leader for a warm welcome and briefing on what this luxury tour covers. After, you will have a quick Kigali city tour which allows you to visit the Gisozi genocide site, Kimironko fruit market, and many nearby sites.

After, transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park to check-in at your luxury lodge. Dine and spend a night at Nyungwe Forest Lodge, One&Only Nyungwe House.

Day 2: Trekking/Hiking via Colobus trails in Nyungwe Forest National Park

Have breakfast in the morning and after, leave the lodge for hiking experience along colobus trails in Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will be escorted by an experienced tour guide and along the way, you will come across primates such as the L’Hoest monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and numerous forest birds. Get back to the lodge to enjoy lunch. Dinner and spend a night at Nyungwe Forest Lodge, One&Only Nyungwe House.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest and drive to Kibuye

Begin your day with an early morning breakfast and later, assemble at Chanika reception to have insight on the guidelines for chimpanzee tracking. At 8:00 am, the park ranger guide will escort you on a search for chimpanzees which also comes with sights of other primates, birds which account for over 310 bird species in this safari park. Walk back after 1 hour of magical encounter and photography to have an enjoyable lunch at the luxury lodge then drive to Kibuye. Dine and spend a night in Karongi Lake View Retreat, Moriah Hill Resort.

Day 4: Drive from Kibuye to Volcanoes National Park

Have a delicious breakfast and after, connect to Volcanoes National Park via Gisenyi and this is approximately 213 km’ drive. Along the way, expect to enjoy the beautiful tea plantations in Gisovu and Kayove. You will make a stopover at Gisenyi for lunch followed by a quick city tour. After, spend 2 hours driving to Ruhengeri to check-in at Bisate Lodge, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Wake up early to be offered breakfast and later, assemble at Kinigi to be briefed on guidelines for gorilla trekking with some packed snacks and bottled drinking water. Once you are assigned a habituated gorilla family, at 8:00 am, the park guide will accompany you to look for gorillas.

This will take you between 2 and 6 hours then once you come across the gorilla family, you will have 1 hour of exploring their behaviors, take pictures.  Later, get back to relax at your luxury gorilla lodge then in the evening, pay a visit to the Twin Lakes; Lake Ruhondo and Burera. Dinner and a night stay will be at Bisate Lodge, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.

Day 6: Bisoke Volcano hike

After breakfast, assemble for briefing and then kick start your hike to the summit of Bisoke Volcano. This will reward you with amazing view of the stunning Crater Lake. Every trail to this volcano’s summits rewards hikers with distinct experiences and a complete hike covers about 3 hours and then descending, you will spend about 2 hours. Dine and spend a night at Bisate Lodge, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.

Day 7: Drive to Akagera National Park

Get up for early morning breakfast and later, drive to Akagera National Park after you have checked out of your luxury lodge. Your journey will reward you with lots of exceptional views especially the rolling hills, unique landscape. Upon early arrival, you will be served lunch then go for an afternoon launch cruise along Lake Ihema. As you enjoy the beauty of the lake, don’t miss the amazing sight of hippos, crocodiles as they bask on the lake shores, aquatic birds and a lot more. Dinner and a night stay will be at Magashi Luxury Tented Camp, Ruzizi Tented Camp.

Day 8: Game drive in Akagera National Park

After you have had your early morning breakfast, you will go for a game drive through Akagera National Park savannas.  This takes from 2 to3 hours but comes with astonishing sights of the Masai giraffes, impalas, African lions, buffaloes, elephants, zebras, bushbucks, birds, bush babies, baboons, leopards and a lot more. Lunch will be served to you from your respective luxury safari lodge. In the afternoon, engage in a boat cruise which lets you spot out hippos, basking crocodiles, water birds, and others. Dine and spend a night at Magashi Luxury Tented Camp, Ruzizi Tented Camp.

Day 9: Departure

Have breakfast early in the morning and after, drive back to Kigali Airport to fly back home.
